Anyone with an interest in psychology would learn from this book and it was a real eye-opener for me. Bildir Yorumu Türkçe'ye çevir. I liked the book very much. Let me begin by saying I'm a psychologist with some analytic training, but I am far from being an analyst. I say this in part because I found the book very readable, but I am guessing the "psychobabble" another reviewer references is touching on the very limited inclusion of language of psychoanalysis that might not be transparent to a layperson. If The Sex Therapist 2 How It All Began have zero familiarity with psychoanalysis, it's possible you would have the same experience. If you have been in analysis as a patient, I'm guessing you would be able to follow it. The book is certainly not in technical language, but I would suggest you have a comfort with the concept of "transference" and a curiosity about the inner life of a therapist for an enjoyable reading experience. Other reviewer criticisms include how much the book is about Susie Orbach and the fictional nature of the patients. Here I must return to my recommendation that you have a curiosity about the inner life of a therapist to read this book. I think the intimacy of the book -- with Susie -- is its central -- and very rich -- offering. I was also initially disappointed, but not surprised, to find the patients were "fictional", but I use that word in quotes because I understand the plight of the therapist in these matters. We cannot compromise our patients by factual accounts that could allow for our patients to be identified or otherwise harmed. An account with the emotional wealth of Susie's, let me assure you, is not "fictional" in the emotional sense. Cases completely constructed out of thin air would not be this provocative. Let me suggest to you that the accounts may be "emotionally true", and in that sense very brave because the person whose inner life is revealed is Susie. I also want to address the role of sexuality in the book. I too was initially "turned off" by the focus on sexuality in the first case and felt is was a bit exploitive of the sexual taboos around therapist and client. The Sex Therapist 2 How It All Began have to acknowledge though, I did buy a book with the title "The Impossibility of Sex", so I can hardly complain without acknowledging complicity.
